Installation

Usually a General Contractor is involved and will handle all communications with Western Sport Floors as a subcontractor. However, it is still sometimes necessary to have direct communication with a school representative that is in a position to make changes to, or provide feedback about the paint colors and logo design.

If no General Contractor is involved or Western Sport Floors is the general contractor onsite, then the necessary steps will be clearly defined in the design process of the new floor.

Sanding/Refinishing

Typically two to three crews are involved in a sanding.

We do the best we can in containing dust created by sanding, however, this is a significant project in itself anywhere from 160-270 cubic feet of old floor finish and sawdust are being removed and become waste in one refinishing project. It is also appreciated if each crew can meet with staff that will be directly involved with the whole project from start to finish. To make this process easier, a checklist is available for download please fill it out and have it ready for our crew.

Screen and Re-Coat

A Screen and Re-Coat is generally a preventative maintenance step as well as a way of protectively shielding your floor from the constant wear it receives throughout the year. This process does not produce the large volume of sawdust that a full refinishing will, however, it does produce a significant amount of fine particle dust that will settle in and around the workspace. If necessary, there are steps that can be taken to mitigate the dust but it will not be altogether eliminated. Fine particle dust is the most difficult to manage, and our crews do as much as possible to keep it to a minimum. Here is a checklist on what to expect when our crew shows up to Screen and Re-Coat your floor.
